Rose

Olfactive Family: Floral

Two varieties of roses are found in perfumery: The Centifolia or May Rose, grown only in Grasse and the Damascena or Bulgarian Rose Otto, widely grown in eastern Europe and the Middle East. Called “the queens of flowers”, roses grow on bushes that live up to 30 years. The early morning harvest is very labor-intensive and 10,000 kg of rose flowers are needed to obtain 1 kg of the coveted rose oil. The scent is complex and faceted with green notes- reminiscent of artichokes for some- and fruity, citrus (verbena), fresh floral geranium and violet notes.
