Coriander Seeds

Olfactive Family: Spicy

Coriander aka Cilantro or Chinese parsley, is an annual herb in the family “Apiaceae”. It grows wild over wide areas of Western Asia, Europe and North Africa. “Coriandrum Sativum” seeds usage goes back to Babylonian times where they served both culinary and medical purposes. They are also mentioned in the Bible and were used in tombs of pharaohs as a symbol of eternal love. The seeds- in reality the fruits- smell very different from the leaves. The essential oil– distilled from the dried fruits- smells crisp, spicy and floral with undertones of rosewood.
